14. Do chiropractic adjustments hurt?

No, chiropractic adjustments are generally not painful. You may feel slight pressure or hear a popping sound, which is simply the “vacuum effect” from the joints releasing their suction on each other. This is similar to pulling a suction cup off of glass as it makes a popping or releasing sound. Research studies have shown that the louder and more pops you hear the healthier your joints are as they are filled with more joint fluid. The sound might be a little scary or creepy but it is good as it tells Dr Fisher that your spine is moving the way it was designed to. Some patients experience mild soreness afterward, similar to post-exercise soreness, but this usually subsides quickly. As Dr Fisher is an expert in correcting spinal curves his 30 plus years of experience has taught him special techniques which makes adjustments easier for all his patients especially those new to chiropractic.

16. How many chiropractic sessions do I need?

The number of sessions needed depends on your condition, severity, and treatment goals. Some patients see pain improvement in just a few visits, while others with chronic issues that need corrective care may require ongoing care. We’ll discuss a treatment plan tailored to your needs.

17. Does insurance cover chiropractic care?

Many insurance plans cover chiropractic care, but coverage varies depending on your specific policy. We recommend providing our staff with your insurance information prior to your visit so they can verify your benefits before starting treatment so you will have an idea of how much your financial responsibility will be. Recently we have gone completely out of network on all insurance plans as our services are now paid higher out of network then when we were in-network. We have found this will typically offer our patients a greater savings as it has lowered or even eliminated any co-pays which can become costly. Either way our staff will go over your coverage in detail so there will be no surprises on how much you will owe.

18. How much does a chiropractic visit cost?

Costs vary based on the treatment needed and whether you have insurance. An initial consultation or adjustment typically ranges from $50 to $200. Dr Fisher will not treat you until he evaluates you thoroughly first after looking at your x-rays and giving you an estimate on the types of treatments you will need. 26. How does spinal decompression work?

Spinal decompression therapy is a non-surgical treatment designed to relieve pressure on the spine by gently stretching it. This creates negative pressure within the spinal discs, which can help retract bulging or herniated discs, improve blood flow, and promote healing. It’s commonly used for conditions like herniated discs, sciatica, chronic back pain and chronic neck pain.

27. Can spinal decompression help with herniated discs?

Yes, spinal decompression can be an effective treatment for herniated discs. By relieving pressure on the spinal discs, it allows nutrients and oxygen to flow back into the affected area, promoting natural healing. Many patients experience significant pain relief after a series of treatments, though results vary based on the severity of the condition.

28. Does spinal decompression hurt?

No, spinal decompression therapy is generally a comfortable and relaxing procedure. Dr Fisher is an expert in spinal decompression, teaches chiropractors on the use of traction and invented the award winning Fisher Traction. We are one of the few clinics in the United States with Fisher Traction Spinal Decompression systems in our office. Most patients feel a gentle stretching sensation in their spine, which can actually bring immediate relief and help correct spinal curves. Some may experience mild soreness after the first few sessions, similar to the feeling after a good workout, but this typically subsides as the body adjusts.

29. How long does it take to see results from chiropractic care?

Results vary depending on the condition, but many patients feel immediate temporary pain relief after their first adjustment. Although one adjustment can not possibly correct spinal problems permanently they can offer some relief immediately. More significant improvements usually occur within weeks or months of consistent care. For chronic issues, long-term treatment plans may be necessary to achieve lasting results. Dr Fisher practices a special type of chiropractic care where his corrective care patients receive before and after x-rays(months later) to see their curves improving.

30. Do I have to keep coming forever once I start chiropractic care?

No, chiropractic care is not something you have to do forever, it’s only as long as you want your spine to stay healthy. The unfortunate reality is gravity is the spine’s biggest enemy and it works against us our entire lives. True chiropractic care is just like brushing your teeth, exercising and eating healthy which are vital daily choices we need our entire lives. Spinal health is no different but it is largely neglected as most people don’t realize how important it is until they are in extreme pain or prevented from doing the things they love to do. Dr Fisher is an expert in correcting the spine and preventing spinal problems from getting worse. The vast majority of his patients continue with periodic monthly adjustments to maintain spinal health and to prevent future issues long after their initial pain is gone.

32. What happens if I don’t complete my chiropractic treatment plan?

If you stop treatment too soon, your symptoms will more than likely return or worsen over time. Chiropractic care is designed to not only relieve pain but also correct underlying issues for more permanent results. Completing your recommended treatment plan ensures that your spine and muscles heal properly, reducing the risk of future problems. The type of corrective care that Dr Fisher specializes in is similar to putting braces on teeth without the braces. Imagine taking braces off your teeth too early and your teeth becoming crooked again. The same principles apply to your spine especially dealing with scoliosis and tech neck.

33. Can a chiropractor replace my need for surgery?

In many cases, chiropractic care can help avoid or delay the need for surgery, especially for conditions like herniated discs, sciatica, and chronic back pain. This is why Dr Fisher uses his patented invention Fisher Traction which can help reduce and in some cases eliminate disc bulges and herniations. Spinal surgery right now is only successful 50% of the time. Most people who receive spinal surgery will need more surgery after. It is much safer to try chiropractic care first before surgery as spinal surgery is permanent. However, if your condition is severe or unresponsive to conservative chiropractic treatments, Dr Fisher will refer you to a specialist for surgical evaluation. Dr Fisher works directly with some of the best spinal surgeons in Orange county who also refer patients to Dr Fisher. Either way Dr Fisher will do what is best for you and help you make the right choice for you.

34. Can sitting too much cause spinal misalignment?

Yes, prolonged sitting—especially with poor posture—can lead to spinal misalignment, back pain, and muscle stiffness. It places excess pressure on the lower back, neck, weakens core muscles, and contributes to conditions like “tech neck.” Regular chiropractic adjustments, along with posture corrections and movement breaks, can help counteract these effects. Dr Fisher has been interviewed multiple times on TV news channels discussing tech neck and these problems people suffer from while sitting at their computers.

35. Can chiropractic adjustments help improve flexibility and performance?

Yes! Chiropractic care helps maintain proper joint mobility, reduce muscle tightness, and enhance nervous system function, all of which improve flexibility, range of motion, and overall athletic performance. Many professional athletes regularly visit chiropractors to stay in top shape and prevent injuries.

36. How long does it take to feel better after a chiropractic adjustment?

Many patients experience immediate relief after an adjustment, while others notice gradual improvements over a few days. Dr Fisher has developed his own system to determine what will be best for your personal care plan. You will work with him during your initial treatments as long as necessary to figure out what type of treatments will be best for you. Typically after the first 2-4 treatments between you and Dr Fisher you will figure out how to move forward to ensure you get the best care for you. If you have a chronic condition, it may take several sessions before you experience significant, long-term results but the goal will always be to make you better.

37. Can chiropractic care help improve sleep quality?

Chiropractic adjustments reduce tension, improve nervous system function, and alleviate pain, all of which contribute to better sleep. Many patients report sleeping more soundly after adjustments, especially if they previously struggled with discomfort or restlessness.

38. Can chiropractic care help with overall stress relief?

Yes! Chiropractic care helps reduce physical and mental stress by relaxing tense muscles, improving blood circulation, and balancing the nervous system. Many patients report feeling more relaxed and energized after their treatments.
